Why Aamir Khan avoids award functions…

Rumour has it that, Aamir Khan does not actually avoid award functions. It is being speculated that Aamir Khan intends to avoid Shahrukh Khan instead! Aamir Khan avoids all award functions except National awards. The last time that he was seen at an awards function was when he was nominated for the best actor award, for his role in Rangeela.

That award, as fate would have it, went to Shahrukh Khan for Dilwaale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge. This, reportedly, left Aamir Khan high, dry and irritated as Aamir believed that he was more deserving. Since then, Aamir Khan came to believe that award functions are influenced by popular choice and not actual performance, as such. Hence, Aamir Khan started boycotting award functions!

Shahrukh Khan once famously said about Aamir Khan, “He does not attend small award functions, he only goes to Oscars.” While Salman Khan has made his thoughts obvious, Aamir Khan chose to play it diplomatically, with a tinge of sarcasm. Aamir Khan created a storm when he wrote on his blog, “Shahrukh is licking my feet and I am feeding him biscuit every now and then, before you jump to the conclusion let me add Shahrukh is our dog’s name.”

Shahrukh Khan played it down and called Aamir, ‘a friend’. Aamir added on his blog that, the dog was owned by the caretakers of his house in Panchgani and it came with the house when Aamir bought it. Aamir said that, he had nothing to do with its naming. “What are the chances of me buying a house which comes with a dog called Shahrukh. Some of my friends claim that I bought the house because of the dog. I would have to be a serious fan of Shahrukh’s to want to do that. All I can say is that I’m waiting for him to come over,” Aamir wrote on his blog, adding salt to Shahrukh Khan’s burns!

Even though the two actors were recently seen shaking a leg at an event, it is believed that, there’s enmity between them. Their wives were also seen engrossed in a conversation but, apparently, it means nothing really. While this may not be the sole reason why Aamir Khan avoids award functions, we wonder why is it that SRK does not find a friend in the two other Khans of Bollywood!

Arjun Kapoor in Mr. India sequel?

Who would have thought there could be another Mr. India? Even as Mogambo and Miss Hawa Hawaii still remain fresh in our minds, there are plans for making a sequel to the 1987 hit, Mr. India. In the original movie, Anil Kapoor and Sridevi had enchanted audiences with their roles and so popular was Amrish Puri’s portrayal of Mogambo that, it made a bald-head synonymous with it!
Apparently, Boney Kapoor is planning a sequel of Mr. India with his son Arjun Kapoor in the lead. The film’s original cast, Anil Kapoor and Sridevi, have reportedly confirmed their presence in the sequel already! It is being speculated that work on the film will only start when the father-son duo wrap up with their professional commitments. A source says, “There’s no question of Arjun not being part of the sequel. His father is producing it and Arjun is a star — it won’t make sense to not have him on board. But they aren’t discussing the project right now, as they are still working on the script’s final draft. Also, both of them are busy with their respective movies”.
Currently, Arjun Kapoor is working on romantic-comedy Gunday, which is slated for release on 14th February and Boney Kapoor is busy producing No Entry Mein Entry. Boney Kapoor is also producing a remake of the Telugu film Okkadu, which stars Arjun. It is believed that Boney Kapoor plans to make Mr. India 2 on a big scale. Most probably, the father-son duo will start working on the film by the end of this year when they would have fulfilled their prior commitments.

Will we see Arjun Kapoor in Mr. India’s shoes? We definitely need a superhero though!

Arjun Kapoor still in awe of his double role stint in Aurangzeb

Actor Arjun Kapoor got an opportunity to play a double-role in his second film itself and the veritable newcomer says it is a challenge that any actor would love to take in his career.

The 27-year-old entered filmdom as a ruffian in Ishaqzaade and in his recently released second venture Aurangzeb, he ended up playing a double-role.

"It is a challenge that every actor dreams of doing in his career. I got it so soon and I jumped at it. I guess only Hrithik had done this in his first film (Kaho Naa...Pyaar Hai. I got it in my second. For me, the process was interesting to find the two characters," says Arjun.

Directed by Atul Sabharwal, the film opened to good reviews, and saw Arjun playing Ajay and Vishal - two completely opposite characters. If Ajay was the bad boy of Gurgaon who is "violent, rude and misbehaves with women", Vishal, in contrast, is the small town boy "suddenly dragged into the world of cops and underworld".

The main challenge was to portray the two characters with conviction, said Arjun. "On the sets, while playing Vishal, I used to remember Ajay, so that I don't play it like Ajay and vice versa," he added.

He never expected his second film to be like this. "I was offered Aurangzeb before Ishaqzaade released. I was surprised that they thought I was capable enough to pull a double-role. Also, when I read the script, I never expected Yash Raj Films to do this kind of film. You would probably expect me and Yash Raj to do my next film in a slightly more younger, fresher kind of zone. So this is what excited me that it was inverse to what every had in mind for me," he said.

The actor said the film reminded him of classics like Deewaar and Trishul. "I have grown up watching these gritty family dramas with 'dialoguebaazi'. the old Yash Raj dramas like Trishul and Deewaar kind of films. That was what excited me. I got to work with such brilliant actors and work with a good director," he said.
