Rumour has it that, Aamir Khan does not actually avoid award functions. It is being speculated that Aamir Khan intends to avoid Shahrukh Khan
instead! Aamir Khan avoids all award functions except National awards.
The last time that he was seen at an awards function was when he was
nominated for the best actor award, for his role in Rangeela.
That award, as fate would have it, went to Shahrukh Khan for Dilwaale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge.
This, reportedly, left Aamir Khan high, dry and irritated as Aamir
believed that he was more deserving. Since then, Aamir Khan came to
believe that award functions are influenced by popular choice and not
actual performance, as such. Hence, Aamir Khan started boycotting award
functions!
Shahrukh Khan once famously said about Aamir Khan, “He does not attend small award functions, he only goes to Oscars.” While Salman Khan has made his thoughts obvious, Aamir Khan chose to play it diplomatically, with a tinge of sarcasm. Aamir Khan created a storm when he wrote on his blog, “Shahrukh
is licking my feet and I am feeding him biscuit every now and then,
before you jump to the conclusion let me add Shahrukh is our dog’s
name.”
Shahrukh Khan played it down and called Aamir, ‘a friend’. Aamir
added on his blog that, the dog was owned by the caretakers of his house
in Panchgani and it came with the house when Aamir bought it. Aamir
said that, he had nothing to do with its naming. “What are the
chances of me buying a house which comes with a dog called Shahrukh.
Some of my friends claim that I bought the house because of the dog. I
would have to be a serious fan of Shahrukh’s to want to do that. All I
can say is that I’m waiting for him to come over,” Aamir wrote on his blog, adding salt to Shahrukh Khan’s burns!
Even though the two actors were recently seen shaking a leg at an
event, it is believed that, there’s enmity between them. Their wives
were also seen engrossed in a conversation but, apparently, it means
nothing really. While this may not be the sole reason why Aamir Khan
avoids award functions, we wonder why is it that SRK does not find a
friend in the two other Khans of Bollywood!
