Salman Khan helping Bruna Abdalah learn Hindi

New Delhi: Brazilian actress Bruna Abdalah – who was last seen in the song ‘Subah Hone Na De’ from “Desi Boyz’ – has credited Salman Khan for making her more fluent in Hindi.


According to DNA, the half-Brazilian-half-Arabic actress is being groomed to do a role in Salman Khan’s highly anticipated film ‘Mental’.


“Bruna is playing a small role in Mental. She got a call from Sohail Khan Productions offering her a part in the film being directed by him,” a source said.


If rumours are anything to go by, though the role wasn’t too big, Bruna felt it was a big opportunity to work with Salman and immediately said yes

Apparently, Salman helped Bruna learn Hindi much faster than her current language teacher Ujjwala.


Bruna said, “Every time we are ready to shoot, Salman will have an idea and some scenes will be improvised and everyone’s lines will change. It’s good preparation for me as I have to rehearse the lines every time we improvise. It was hard for me in the beginning but Salman somehow makes it easier. I’m more confident now from what I was before. I can dub my own lines. And I am getting to see actors like Tabu and Salman.”

An insider says, “Since the last 24 hours, Siddhant has made dozens of calls to John, which he has ignored. He cannot understand why an actress who is one-hit-old is making a big deal about not working with ‘older heroes’. And who is she to turn down a film with John? And if Shraddha doesn’t want to work with actors in their 40s, why her manager has been calling for her to audition for Gabbar, opposite Akshay Kumar? She has managed to tick off all the top actors.
When asked about it, Siddhant casually tries to bury the question saying,  “Where have you heard such things? It’s not true.” And then when he was told that people we knew he tried calling John on Wednesday, he said “I was trying to call John for a matter relating to a film project and not about Shraddha. But John was busy and couldn’t take my call.” And later when we asked if he was hiding the fact that he was calling John, he replied “Why should I have to tell you about why I was calling John? That’s between John and me!”

Sonam Kapoor and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra round three!

Sonam Kapoor and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra have worked together for two films now namely Delhi 6 and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. But her role in the movie didn’t really have much impact as the protagonists were the male leads – Abhishek Bachchan in Delhi 6 and Farhan Akhtar in the biopic. 
But this time, the director is ready to give Sonam the time she deserves on-screen and they will be doing a film together for the third time which will be a period love-story Mirza Sahiban.
“We’re working on the script, trying to polish it as much as we can. But yes, that’s my next one,” says Rakeysh.
Speaking from Dubai, Rakeysh says, “Sonam, like everyone else got associated with Bhaag Milkha Bhaag because she believed in it. I mean, look at the man. We grew up reading about Milkha Singh. Stories about him are part of folklore. Sonam knew it was not a lengthy role. But she knew her role would have an impact.”
DDirector Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra gave a cameo in his latest flick but went unnoticed. Milkha Singh when flies on the plane for the first time gets scared and Rakeysh plays the captain of the flight who comes out and pacifies him.  Laughs Rakeysh, “Nobody noticed but I was also in the last scene of Rang De Basanti as young Bhagat Singh’s father.”

An evening with Lootera

Sonakshi Sinha looked every bit chic as she made an entry in skinny denims paired with a white jacket and stylish glasses at a special screening of her new film Lootera, which will be released this Friday.

Sonakshi was accompanied by Ranveer Singh, who plays the lead opposite her and director Vikramaditya Motwane, at the screening held in a prominent multiplex in Mumbai on Sunday.

The film's co-producer Ekta Kapoor made an early entry and was spotted talking about the film with the guests.

 

The screening was a star studded affair as many prominent film personalities turned out to catch the film. Karan Johar, dressed in all black, happily posed for shutterbugs and talked about his high hopes from the film while entering the theatre.

Film- makers Zoya Akhtar and Homi Adjania came in together and looked deeply engrossed in conversation. Kiran Rao managed to pull off a casual style statement with elan as she walked in sporting black tights and cool black long top.

English Vinglish director Gauri Shinde came with hubby, filmmaker R. Balki.

"Romance has a different mood in this film. I hope it comes across well," said Motawane, who was widely appreciated for his previous film Udaan. Ekta, who has been producing some different kinds of films, spoke of how she wants the audience to taste variety.

"It's time that audience enjoyed different kinds of films. This film has a universal appeal," she said.

Ranveer Singh, who doesn't miss a chance to jest was in his elements.

However, it was Sonakshi and her mother Poonam Sinha, who were out to show some PDA. Poonam fondly kissed Sonakshi on her cheek and was later seen flaunting the red lipstick marks.

Sonam Kapoor in a comic role for the first time!

We have never seen Sonam Kapoor do any comic roles on-screen and for the first time in Nupur Asthana’s romantic-comic which is produced by YashRaj Films, she will trying her hand in the comic genre.
And it was her dad Anil Kapoor’s friend and colleague Rishi Kapoor who helped Sonam get her comic timing right. Enthuses the Raanjhanaagirl, “Rishi uncle is such a fine actor. I’ve learnt so much from him. My comic timing in the film was taught to me by him. I am not  allowed to say much about it. But Nupur is one of the nicest people I’ve worked with. Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, Aanand Rai and now Nupur are the directors who have really given me  a lot of confidence as an actor. Being a female director Nupur makes me feel very beautiful.”
Sonam admits she has been learning acting on the job. “I am not a trained actor. I learnt the basics of acting while doing Saawariya with Sanjay. So he was my acting guru. I don’t follow any technique. I just flow with my character and surrender myself to the director. That’s what I did inRaanjhanaa too. It was both exhilarating and terrifying. Because I really didn’t know where I was heading. I love my job. I love acting and keep pushing myself to improve. I am a very positive person. I don’t want to be the No. 1 star. I just want to be known as a good actor. Every director I’ve worked with has helped me grow as an actor. 
Saawariya with Sanjay, Delhi 6 with Rakeysh Mehra were important, so were I Hate Luv Stories and Aisha.”
While most people dismiss Sonam as a fashionista, she says, “I love dressing up. I like to put on beautiful clothes. For me it is important to look my best. It’s part of the way I am. But it’s also an image, and an image that I hold precious to my heart. I don’t make an effort to be considered fashionable. I think a partiality towards tasteful dressing comes  naturally to me.”
