Poonam Pandey insists she can do ‘other’ roles too!

Model-turned-actress Poonam Pandey was a known face long before her upcoming film Nasha surfaced. She was quite popular with her controversial photographs, shower video and various other statements proving that she could just define the term ‘bold’.
Seemingly, the actress has gone beyong being just ‘bold’ for the film ‘Nasha’ and says, ““Honestly speaking, it’s not like I have always wanted to do bold films. I would love to experiment with different types of roles.”
“Right now, I haven’t thought much. I am just focussing on ’Nasha’ right now,” the 20-year-old said during the shoot of a pole dance sequence.
Amit Saxena, director of Nasha admits that Poonam Pandey has the ability to adapt to any genre when it comes to films.
“She would fit any genre. It’s breathtaking to watch this talent. She is absolutely new, she is doing this for the first time and there is absolutely no inhibitions that she has,” said Saxena.
Talking about her capability, he said: “She has gone from comic moments to serious moments. I feel she will be able to do any genre and do full justice to it.”
“Nasha” tells the story of an 18-year-old boy who falls in love with an older woman, played by Poonam. The movie releases July 26.

Why is Abhay Deol unhappy with Raanjhanaa?

Why is Abhay Deol unhappy with Raanjhanaa?

Even as Aanand L Rai’s directorial venture continues to rake in moolah at the box office, the Deol lad isn’t too happy with the film…here’s why

Abhay Deol’s latest outing Raanjhanaa has proved to be a crowd puller at the box office, thanks to the stellar performances by its lead cast. And if there is one person who has walked away with the maximum accolades, it’s the South star Dhanush. Apparently, this has made apna Bollywood ka dude very unhappy. The actor is even miffed that a few of his lines were chopped off at the editing table.

Abhay has made it clear that henceforth he will be focusing only on solo hero projects. Neither does he want to share screen space nor credit with anyone else. He will be seen next in his own production, One By Two, playing the lead.

‘Ghanchakkar’ review: A wacky comedy of errors! - ZEE NEWS

‘Ghanchakkar’ review: A wacky comedy of errors! Gayatri Sankar

Do you have a frail memory? Are you forgetful and is that what irks you the most about yourself? Perhaps the makers of ‘Ghanchakkar’, through their film, intended to give you a fictional visual representation of what could perhaps happen if you ended up losing your memory! Alas, not in a way you would perhaps like to realize the same!

‘Ghanchakkar’ comes from Rajkumar Gupta, who had earlier delivered films like ‘Aamir’ and ‘No One Killed Jessica’. Perhaps, the kind of genres that he has dealt with earlier stand completely in contrast to what this Emraan Hashmi-Vidya Balan starrer aims to unfold.

The genre, style and presentation are indeed the first of its kinds but at the same time, is something that the audiences will find very difficult to digest.

It’s all about Sanjay Athray (Emraan Hashmi) and his ability to break open bank lockers and help thugs. His wife Neetu (Vidya Balan) has a bizarre sense of fashion and almost has a fetish for fashion magazines. She is loud- both literally and otherwise. She is extremely ambitious and pursues her husband to go the illegal way to earn those extra bucks! She is also quite vocal about her greed for money and hence admits to not having any intentions of producing babies with him – as she doesn’t want to introduce Sanju (Sanjay), their father – as a thief!

Sanjay is almost fed-up of his wife’s awful cooking and his mother’s phone calls at nights enquiring if he has had dinner or not. But it is not just about these two women that he gets squeezed in between – he has a bigger trouble in store – Pandit and Idris (his accomplice in a bank robbery mission).

Sanju, Pandit (played by Rajesh Sharma) and Idris (played by Namit Das) succeed in stealing Rs 35 crores from a bank and decide to distribute their shares three months hence, oblivious to what will unfold thereafter.

Vidya Balan and Emraan Hashmi, both powerhouse performers, excel in their respective roles, to say the least. They are supported by some fine performances delivered by Rajesh Sharma (seen earlier with Balan in ‘The Dirty Picture’) and Namit Das. But unfortunately, their impeccable performances can do the least to up the fate of the film at the Box Office.

Director Gupta has been successfully able to present Emraan Hashmi in a way none could ever have even thought of. This could help the ‘serial-kisser’ further his career across all genres of cinema. But Gupta goes tepid while trying to give the correct kind of treatment to a grave plot, thereby making us wonder- ‘why?’!

The climax as a separate chunk is absolutely out-of-the-box. It could have helped had the film gained velocity mid-way through. But when you collectively put it all, it spoils the show, thereby rattling your level of endurance and understanding.

The film does have its share of highs but as a whole, fails to impress.

‘Ghanchakkar’, a film that has such heavyweights as the cast, could have been a lot better.

The Deepika-Katrina cold war continues…

So it seems. While Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif may seem cordial to each other in public, things aren’t fully okay between the two. According to an insider, the reason is none other than Ranbir Kapoor. Though RK Jr is involved with Katrina at the moment, he still shares a certain closeness with Deepika, which is naturally not going down well with Kat. Ahem. We’re getting a sense of déjà vu, et tu?

Sonakshi walks out of Welcome 2

It is a well known fact that Sonakshi Sinha is the one of the most busiest actress in B-town. Apparently, she has opted out of Anees Bazmee's sequel to Welcome, co-starring John Abraham. Sources say that Sona has no dates as she is busy promoting her upcoming project and is slated to work in five other projects by the end of this year. It was a mutual decision by both the parties to part ways. We wait to see who is going to replace Sonakshi.

Aditya Roy Kapur breaking barriers with his revived movie career!

After failing to get noticed in Guzaarish, London Dreams and Action Replayy, Aditya Roy Kapur has seen a different world altogether after Aashiqui 2 and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani.
A little birdie chirped that a Hindi-Tamil-Telugu project with Aditya Roy Kapur in the lead which was designed to launch the Southern super hot Samantha Ruth Prabhu, in Hindi would be re-started.
The movie falls under the action-adventure-comedy genre and is titled, Assi Nabbe Poore Sau. It stars Aditya in the only Hindi version. Samantha is set to appear in all three versions of the movie. A source from a Tamil film industry says, “ “Assi Nabbe Poore Sau was almost shelved. But now there is a sudden upsurge of interest in Aditya. So the project is going to be revived.”

Alia Bhatt won’t be seen acting with Dhanush!

There were some really strong speculations that surfaced which suggested director K V Anand has selected young actress Alia Bhatt to play the female lead in his next venture opposite Dhanush.
But the director has spoken out and has denied those reports while admitting he did approach alia for the movie.
Anand says, “We approached Alia Bhatt for the film, and I even narrated the story to her. She was very excited, and liked her role. But, she didn’t have the required dates. We are planning to go on floors with the project from August 17, and Alia had free dates only for the first few months. She had other commitments post that. So, we haven’t signed her on.”
The director tells us that he’s in the process of finalising the cast and crew. “We are looking at a few names to play the lead. We will first lock the crew by this week, and an official announcement from the production side will be made,” he says.

Salman Khan could face culpable homicide charges for 2002 hit-and-run

MUMBAI: Bollywood actor Salman Khan faces the possibility of being tried for culpable homicide in a decade-old hit-and-run, a legal source with direct knowledge of the case said on Monday.
A local Mumbai court ruled on Monday that the hit-and-run case would be tried in the sessions court and not the magistrate court where it was being heard earlier.
The prosecution had asked for the case to be transferred to the sessions court as the magistrate court does not have the jurisdiction to try cases of culpable homicide.
"Salman Khan had asked for a revision of that order but the court has rejected that, which means the trial will be held in the sessions court and he could be tried for culpable homicide," the legal source told Reuters.
The charge carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in jail. Khan was earlier being tried on the lesser charge of death by negligence which could attract a maximum prison term of two years.
The 47-year-old actor is accused of running his SUV on the pavement near a bakery in the suburb of Bandra in Mumbai on September 28, 2002, killing one person and injuring four others.
Khan is arguably Bollywood's most successful actor in recent years, with five of his films making more than a billion rupees in domestic ticket sales.

Chennai Express Updates & Photos

http://www.hindustantimes.com/Images/popup/2013/1/Chennai_express.jpgReuniting after five years, Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone are back to entertain with Rohit Shetty’s comedy caper Chennai Express. And the teaser looks, no prizes for wild-guessing, very Rohit Shetty.

Shah Rukh Khan admits right at the outset that he is 40! Okay, that is still 7

moons too short of the real number. But it’s a start. Deepika Padukone’s accent is not too far off the mark but towards the end falters a tad.

Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Sathyaraj, Manorama, Nikitin Dheer and Rani Mukherji feature in Chennai Express. Priyamani too features in an item song in the film.

LATEST ON CHENNAI EXPRESS

Shah Rukh Khan made Deepika Padukone learn Tamil

Director Rohit Shetty has earned the reputation of making films — the Golmaal series, Singham (2011) and Bol Bachchan (2012) — that always manage to cross the Rs. 100 crore mark at the box office. For his upcoming movie, Chennai Express,  lead actor Shah Rukh Khan wanted everything done meticulously to ensure another successful project.

In his upcoming film Chennai Express, Shah Rukh Khan will be seen in a complete action-packed avatar, perhaps to give his rivals Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn tough competition.
The actor reportedly performed dangerous action sequences in the film, despite a shoulder injury.

Rohit Shetty's comic caper on hold

Director Rohit Shetty’s first brush with fame was his 2006 hit Golmaal. He went on to make two sequels, Golmaal Returns (2008) and Golmaal 3 (2010), and is keen on a fourth film in the series. However, he hasn’t been able to find a powerful script for it. Writer duo Sajid-Farhad admit that Rohit has been in constant touch with them to finalise a script, and has even rejected a few options.

“Golmaal 3 is our favourite film, so to be bigger and better than that, we need a great story. We’ve discussed several scripts for Golmaal 4, but nothing has worked out yet. We’ve rejected a few as they didn’t excite us,” says Sajid.

In the meantime, Rohit, as well as Sajid-Farhad, are keeping themselves busy with other projects. Sajid says, “Rohit is presently focussing on Chennai Express with Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone. After that, he will start working on Singham 2. I don’t think Golmaal 4 will happen before that.”

Glad to have Shah Rukh Khan in Chennai Express: Deepika Padukone
Deepika Padukone is happy to team up with Shah Rukh Khan in Chennai Express after 2007 release Om Shanti Om and says now she interacts with him "more freely" and they share a "friendly equation".

The actress debuted with Om Shanti Om, which had SRK in the male lead, and being a newcomer she tended to be "nervous and awkward" on the sets of Farah Khan directorial venture.

SRK uses KKR for Chennai Express promotion

Shah Rukh Khan,co-owner of the Kolkata franchise a T20 team, will appear on a TV show during the ongoing T20 tournament’s final on May 26 to promote his upcoming film, Chennai Express.  The actor has come up with a promotional trailer for his appearance on the show and has urged his fans to express themselves. Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai Again teaser: Akshay Kumar threatens audiences with dire consequences

The Khiladi, all dressed up like a dreaded underworld don, warns moviegoers of improper behaviour in theatres

It seems our B-town filmmakers are coming up with creative solutions to social problems. Only recently, Saif Ali Khan went on to make an anti-smoking promo as a kind of preventive measure lest his film, Go Goa Gone be pulled up for promoting smoking!

Now, with Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai Again, an increasingly violent film releasing, actor Akshay Kumar too has cut a similar promo. But this one, it seems, genuinely has public concerns at heart besides the fact that it’s being used to promote the film. In the short clip, Akshay is all dressed up as his character based on underworld don, Dawood Ibrahim. Wearing dark shades and sitting in his plush office, the don warns movie goers to maintain order in theatres. Right from the annoying cell phone users to those who come in to movie halls for other intents besides watching films, Akki warns them all of dire consequences!

So check out this fun clip and let us know whether Akshay’s avatar as a dreaded don really scares you!
